NAMI Central Virginia
Annual Golf Tournament
On May 20, 2013, NAMI Central Virginia held its inaugural fundraising golf tournament. 90 golfers attended, 28 individuals and organizations sponsored the event, and many door prizes were donated. The tournament was held at the Country Club of the Highlands in Chesterfield County.
NAMI-CVA set a fundraising goal of $10,000. Thanks to the support of sponsors, golfers, volunteers, and donors, that amount was exceeded. The golf tournament was kicked off by Delegate Riley Ingram, 62nd District. Delegate Ingram continues to be an advocate for mental illness issues. Henrico County Chief of Police, Douglas Middleton, a strong supporter of Crisis Intervention Teams (CIT), discussed CIT efforts in Henrico County. Both speakers played in the tournament and joined NAMI Central Virginia members in a fun-filled day of golfing, awesome food, fabulous prizes, and fellowship. Rain was forecast but the weather was beautiful for the event.
NAMI Central Virginia members recruited players, sponsors and donors. More than 30 NAMI-CVA members attended and supported the golf tournament.
